The best animal charities to support in 2021

John Paul Pet always has been and always will be committed to treating our pets and furry friends like they’re human. We believe that all animals should be treated with kindness and respect, so we’ve put together a small list of charities that you can help support to better the lives of animals.

PetRescue

Helping create true social change in pet adoption, PetRescue is a national animal welfare charity with a vision of a future where every pet is safe, respected, and loved. With an established national adoption website, they are helping rescue animals find their forever homes.

PetRescue is Australia’s largest online pet adoption platform that aims to unite millions of pet lovers with thousands of rescue pets across the nation looking for a home. They are a management platform for over 1,000 rescue organisations, making it easier and more convenient for you to adopt a pet. There are programs, events, and initiatives to help raise awareness about pet adoption, and more specifically, about the thousands of pets we lose to kill shelters every year. The flawed legislation that allows this to continue is something that PetRescue is trying to change.

How can you help? You can donate to PetRescue to help a pet find love with its own profile for just $37 or host your own fundraiser to be part of a movement that’s helping create happiness and save lives.

Pets of the Homeless

If you’re a pet owner you understand the unconditional love and bond shared between yourself and your furry friend. For some, the bond runs so deep they wouldn’t dream of leaving their pet. Pets of the Homeless provides food, veterinary care, and support to the pets of people experiencing or facing homelessness. They work with their community partners to distribute donations to assist as many people and their pets as possible.

Pets of the Homeless was created to help reduce the number of healthy pets that are surrendered to shelters and euthanised due to financial hardship. Studies have shown that our pets can assist with mental health and self-esteem, with many therapeutic values. People who are suffering financial hardships or facing homelessness should not have to worry about caring for their pets, instead, they should be leaning on them for support. You can help someone in need by donating to keep best friends together.

Animals Australia

Wanting a world where compassion extends to everyone, Animals Australia are fighting for a kinder world. They are Australia’s leading animal protection organisation that is recognised worldwide for their investigations into animal cruelty. Their aim is to heal the human/animal relationship by addressing the causes of animal suffering and contribute to building a strong, resilient, and effective global animal protection movement.

You can take action and sign the petitions on their website to end slaughterhouse cruelty, pledge to never attend a rodeo, and more. You can also make donations here.
